Scientific objectives The observation aims at fully understanding the auroral formation processes at cusp/cleft polar latitude region by detecting time evolution of auroral emission lines along the meridian plane in a fairly wide wavelength range compared with existing ones. This should be in close collaboration with EISCAT radar observations of electron density variations and conjunctive particle precipitation measurements by scientific satellites such as Cluster and MMS missions. These observations together with numerical simulation of auroral emission will shed light on the formation and electrodynamical processes of high latitude aurora and electromagnetic linkage with solar magnetospheric system in greater detail. |
